I have had nothing but problems the my MYFAX account. It really sticks to invest in printed material with your fax number on it, then to have problems, I find that 1/2 of the time the faxes do not come through, my customers have to send multiple times and in some cases there is a time deadline and myfax has left me hanging and trying to find another way for my customers to send me docs. When the faxes do go through the time from time it was sent to when I can retrieve is always different.
A colleague has efax and doesnt have the same problems.
myfax may be sufficient for personal use but dont rely on it for business.

Be careful to make sure that when you cancel your subscription to Myfax that you get a confirmation email that account has been cancelled because it looks like a trap.

Editors note. Always be sure to mark down the date your trial ends! In fact mark down the date 5 days before it ends so you don’t forget. If you are billed after that contact the company and if within 30 days they will usually credit you if you’ve not used it a lot

My business has used Myfax for the past three years. The service was okay at first, although there were a handful of people unable to send faxes to our Myfax number. When I called support to inquire why this was happening, I was told that the sender must be using an older model fax machine that takes a long time to transmit a fax, which results in the myfax server dropping the connection.

However, in the past few months, the number of calls I’ve received telling me our fax machine not working has increased greatly. Yesterday, I was unable to receive ANY faxes through our Myfax number so I tried sending a test fax to myself. I never received any confirmation that it went through but I also didn’t receive one saying it DIDN’T go through.

I called our phone company thinking it was a problem with the phone line. They tested it and said it was working fine. I logged into our Myfax account online and my account showed that my test fax had been SENT but yet I had received no confirmation email.

I went to the support section of their website and the following message was posted down in the middle of the page:

“We are currently experiencing a delay in the delivery of outbound faxes. Outbound fax submissions will be processed; it is not necessary to re-submit. We are also experiencing an interruption in service which may prevent your use of our inbound fax services at this time. Our engineers are aware of the issue and are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.”

I was incredibly irritated that we weren’t notified of this. It isn’t even on the main page when you log in. Our office has to meet frequent deadlines using faxes. I would expect Myfax to send out an email alerting their customers that the service has stopped working — especially since one of their sales pitches is that you can forward your local number to their toll free number so you don’t have to change all of your letterhead, contact info, etc. So I had my working fax number forwarded to their NONworking fax number and did not discover it until visiting their support section of the website.

I was paying Myfax $22.00 a MONTH for 400 incoming pages and 200 outgoing pages and $0.10 cents overage for each additional page.

I decided to do a lot of research and ending up going with Extreme Fax. They only charge $3.99 per month for 600 pages whether it’s incoming OR outgoing and only $0.05 overage for each additional page.

I feel like I was completely ripped off by Myfax. Further, when I canceled my account online, they don’t give you ANY type of confirmation page or email you anything to prove you canceled your account. They simply disable your login, log you out and redirect you to their home page.
