MetroFax is a 10 year old privately held company that offers Internet Fax. The sign up is fairly straight forward. They accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express. MetroFax is a great buy at $12.95 a month and sports a simple and excellent online interface. Screen shots at end of article. News May 2011 for MetroFax Lot’s of great news from MetroFax this month. Here is a quick rundown.
March 2011 News for MetroFax News – Metrofax is now registered with the BBB. What does that mean to you? First it does not mean they are better than the other services. It does mean they commit to a high level of customer service. As a Better Business Bureau member MetroFax must commit to answering all complaints within a reasonable time period, set by the BBB. If you complain to the BBB they notify MetroFax and they have to respond or risk loosing their standing. Bravo to MetroFax and Good news for users. MetroFax 2011 news MetroFax now has an iPhone App making it even easier for you to receive faxes no matter were you are. More November 2010 news from MetroFax You can also configure each additional email address to be used for sending only or to also receive any incoming faxes. MetroFax has changed so many things I’m just going to list them out here and give you extend coverage later. Of these the most notable are the Expanded Network which directly positively impacts performance, the elimination of signup fees and the ability to change the header.
Once you sign up for MetroFax you’ll recieve a Welcome Message. This email will tell you how to Activate your account. Click on this link first. It takes you to a screen to change your password. This tnen takes you to a LOGIN screen where it asks for your ID and Password. One problem is they don’t tell you what your login ID is. I guessed it was the email id I signed up with and was correct. Not a big deal but something they should add to their welcome letter. Once logged in you come to the Metrofax dashboard. The dashboard is VERY clean and easy to read. Easily one of the top interfaces I’ve seen to date. Sending a Fax Online with MetroFax You can add an attachment easily by browsing and easily pick from one of 5 styles of cover pages. Attachments are limited to 10MB and there are no custom cover pages, but do you really need that? If you do there are other services that offer custom fax cover pages . Further down you can add more information for the cover page including a message. This message can be the entire fax if you are not faxing a document. If you don’t attach a file you MUST put a message on the cover page or it will not deliver the fax. But then, why would you want it too? MetroFax now lets you send faxes direclty from Office 2007. This is a nice feature to have if you send lots of documents created in Office 2007 After that you can SEND NOW. It says Delivery options but it only offers send now. Support Basic info on MetroFax New Pricing for May 2011 The $12.95 plan is still there but now MetroFax offers a 500 page plan and a 2,500 page plan for $7.95 & $35.95 a month respectively. Both are very competitive. MetroFax. Conclusion As they are fond of saying you should compare the bottom line. With their new plan structure MetroFax has brought their excellent payment plan structure to a lower and upper price point. MetroFax. – $12.95/mo includes 1000 pages/mo. $0.03 per page thereafter. The new Inbox allows storage of up to 90 days of faxes, sorting and searching by date and multi-fax forwarding and management. Nicely done.
Updated for May 2011 the new outbox gives superior fax management tools to the previous version of up to 90 days of previously sent faxes.

We have subscribed to Metrofax for 6 months now, and we love it! We were getting ripped off by —— so we starting looking for a company to switch to. Metrofax was that company and we haven’t regretted it once! They give you such a large number of pages each month that we don’t have to worry about going over our allotment. Love the preview of the first page in the email. We haven’t seemed to have any trouble receiving faxes. Customer service has been responsive and friendly. Thank you MetroFax for blowing your competition out of the water!
