Who is Callwave?

Calwave is a publicly held company which started in 1998. Although we’re going to address Callwaves Internet Fax service, they call themselves a “Mobile telephony and speech application” company.

Within this group they also offer Internet Fax. They are a Unified Messaging company that offers Voice services including what they claim to be the industries first “voice to text application” which summarizes voice mails into text messages.  Callwave is located in Santa Barbara CA.

After putting in your city and state Callwave gives you a choice of 9 numbers, if you don't like any of them you can try again. During setup they kindly commit to not sharing your personal information with anyone. Their privacy policy is also pretty straight forward.

One nice feature is they let you choose your own PIN number. After that you fill in your credit card information and click the start faxing button and you should be reaady to start using Callwave Inernet Fax within minutes.

Callwave Number Selection

Callwave offers a good selection of Local Internet Fax numbers but does not offer Toll Free Internet fax numbers. This is ususlly not an issue today since most individuals and most companies have flat rate long distance plans. Also, International businesses cannot fax in to a toll free number as they only work in the US and Canada.

Fax storage even with the basic plan is included and with the Plus plan online fax storage is unlimited.

Conclusion

As a stand alone fax service there is nothing remarkable about Callwave. They do offer a compelling set of voice services and could be a competitor to Ringcentral. Overall Callwave fits our criteria as a large enough Internet Fax provider to deliver fast reliable service. There are better values for just straight Internet faxing including MyFax and RapidFAX
