Fax Broadcasting

The Basics

Fax broadcasting is still a popular way to reach your sales staff, vendors, clients and customers. It is also still a popular way to SPAM people. Congress passed a law which limits businesses ability to send unsolicited broadcast faxes. Here are the basics

  • You can use broadcast fax to reach current customers.
  • You must have had a business relationship with them in the past 12 months.
  • You MUST give them a PHONE number to call to OPT OUT of receiving your faxes
  • You can of course use broadcast fax with your employees and vendors since they likely want the information.

If you stay within these general fax broadcasting guidelines you’ll be fine. Speaking of fines, the fines for sending unsolicited Broadcast faxes is steep.

The fax spam law is complex and more can be found on it here.

How to choose the Best Broadcast Fax service

Almost any Internet Fax service that sells Outbound (the ability to send and Internet Fax) fax services can be used for small broadcast faxing applications. If you are sending 100 to 300 recipients at a time then you can use any of the larger Internet Fax providers like RapidFAX, MyFAX, eFAX or RingCentral.

CAUTION!
If you plan on broadcasting a fax to 300 to 1000 recipients at a time then you need to choose your Provider more carefully. Failure to do so will cause significant delays in getting your faxes out. Since the service will need LOTS of ports to deliver this many faxes in a timely manner you should stick to only the largest suppliers like those named above.

Best Choices

eFAX is probably the best choice for large Broadcast fax provider for midsize companies. They have been in business for over a decade and have a large infrastructure capable of handing large broadcast fax applications.

RapidFAX and MyFAX are also good options but neither offers a specified Broadcast Fax “service” as does eFAX.
