J2, eFax's parent company bought RapidFAX in December of 2007. J2 owns a number of relatively independent efax companies including DataonCall.We'll get you an update soon on what this means but for the moment the pricing differences still remain. J2 is the biggest fax player in the market and there is every reason to believe they will continue to run RapidFAX at a high level of service. .

You DO get to choose your password during setup. After signing up you are immediately logged on to the service and can send faxes from their online interface.

Number Coverage
RapidFAX has very good local number coverage with most of the US covered. Note however in these days of constantly splitting area codes local numbers are not longer that important. RapidFAX offers Toll Free number at no extra chargewhich can be a big advantage by eliminating the fear of call cost to folks sending you faxes. (please note: if you receive international faxes you MUST get a local number as Toll Free numbers do not work internationaly EXCEPT for Canada.
RapidFAX Setup & Administration
There is no setup required to start sending faxes. But RapidFAX does offer the following features.
Up to 5 email id's that can receive the incoming faxes
The default format for faxes is PDF which can be changed to TIFF if desired.
An easy to use web interface.
You an chage these settings at any time via the RapidFAX administration page.
User administration is straight forward and allows you to set up differnt users and choose the format you want to receive faxes in PDF or TIFF NOTE! Additional Inbound users will cost additional monthly fees.
Online Faxing Interface
RapidFAX offers a nicely done online faxing interface for when you need or want to get your faxes online rather than in your email. You might be at a client or on the road without access to your email. If you can get to a computer you can go to RapidFAX's website, log-in and send, view, forward, and print faxes. The RapidFAX interface is straightforward and easy to use. Not as slick as some of the others but functional and very easy to navigate.
RapidFAX Customer Support
RapidFAx has excellent support with Toll Free # open 24/7. The reps are of course overseas but according to the company they are dedicated reps who really know the product and are very helpful. They also have a Click to Chat interface that is also 24/7 and very useful. They also have a help blog that is quit useful.
